Déjà vu

Here's another photo locale. Stephen Stills asked the photographer to take the photo with a wooden box camera similar to those used by Matthew Brady, the great Civil War photographer famous for his portraits of Abraham Lincoln. In those days, it took over two minutes to expose the image onto a glass plate negative, so the band posed without moving for that long, during which time the dog wandered into the frame. The box camera photo didn't provide a sharp enough image for the album cover, so a 35mm photo, taken during the long pose was used and made to look old through a vintage technique. The photo was taken in Navato, California north of San Francisco.
